Our story

Built in Copenhagen to hold up to scrutiny

Penning was founded in 2021, when Danish investors who wanted crypto exposure had to choose between offshore exchanges and staying out entirely. We took the opposite route: start with the Danish FSA, and build the platform inside the rules.

What began as an FSA-licensed alternative investment fund grew into a broker desk, then a full crypto-asset service provider. Today Penning Financial Services ApS serves private and institutional clients across the EU/EEA from Copenhagen, under Finanstilsynet's supervision.

And the name? Penning is the old Nordic word for money — coinage once minted for kings, today a platform open to anyone in the EU/EEA.

Regulation in practice

What being regulated means for you

The license

A MiCA license you can verify

Your assets

Your crypto, your wallet

Custody is part of Penning's license — but not a product we offer. Penning operates as a brokerage and holds no client crypto: assets are delivered directly to your own wallet.
