With the transition ending on 1 July 2026, providing crypto-asset services in the EU/EEA without a CASP authorisation is illegal. Two groups fall outside it: providers whose authorisation has ended, and providers ESMA has flagged as non-compliant.

MiCA regulates stablecoins separately from CASPs: an e-money token (EMT) may only be issued by an authorised e-money or credit institution, fully backed in segregated reserves. This determines which stablecoins a regulated platform can legally offer.

Each country has its own supervisor, its own licensed providers — and a far larger number that may serve its clients through passporting. See the numbers for a single market:
A CASP authorisation is not all-or-nothing: each provider is authorised for a specific combination of MiCA’s ten services and may not offer the rest. Always check the “Services” column before assuming what a provider can legally do for you.
Penning is authorised for seven of the ten services, including portfolio management (i) — in the register above, currently the only Danish CASP with that service.
The source is ESMA’s official MiCA register — five CSV files covering authorised CASPs, non-compliant providers, ART/EMT issuers and white papers, which ESMA updates weekly. We pull and diff the files daily, so new authorisations, withdrawals and warning-list changes are typically captured within a day.
ESMA’s files omit the EEA/EFTA states, so Norway is tracked separately via Finanstilsynet (NO). The full dataset is freely available, no signup — use it with attribution:
